Ian Andrew Mallory

 

Ian has over twenty-five years’ experience developing, financing, and executing international energy projects (with emphasis on clean energy, including wind and hydro), and a focus on the Americas. He currently serves as Executive Chairman of VanadiumCorp Resource Inc.

A financial lawyer by training, Ian has been a senior executive at major Canadian gas and power companies TransAlta, Westcoast Energy, and ENMAX. He served as Executive Vice President, Commercial, at international marine CNG transporter Sea NG Corporation (with strategic partners Enbridge, Marubeni and Teekay) from 2006 to 2017. Most recently, he was Vice President at New Fortress Energy, working on the development, contracting and construction of an LNG terminal and power project in Mexico.

Prior to joining the energy sector, Ian was Counsel to the Treasury of the World Bank in Washington, D.C., participating in numerous international bond issues and investment transactions. He began his career as an Associate with the banking, insolvency and restructuring group at the Fasken law firm in Toronto.

 

Over the course of his career, Ian has been an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. and an Instructor at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, teaching foreign investment law and project management.

Ian holds an A.B. magna cum laude from Harvard University, an LL.B. from the University of Toronto, and an M. Phil. from the University of Cambridge. He is a member of the Bar of the Province of Ontario. In 2018, he received the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors (Canada). He speaks Spanish, Portuguese and French.

Currently, Ian is Chair of Zorzal Holdings Canada Inc., the holding company for an award-winning winery in Mendoza, Argentina, and has been a director of various corporations, including private, public, and joint ventures.

Ian serves on the Advisory Board of the national policy think-tank, Canada2020.
